An original X-Wing Fighter built from a 1970's MPC model kit. This kit was highly modified for accuracy and built at Industrial, Light and Magic.
Among the extensive modifications done are the inclusion of a metal support strut placed internally along the frame. This allows the support rod on the bottom to screw into the base. Each laser foil has been professionally refitted with brass rods, which have been drilled into the engine strut for support.
Expertly painted by the master model builders at ILM, this model is mounted on a black base with the ESB logo engraved. It comes in an acrylic case.
Originally built for the Sept. 11, charity auction to benefit families of the World Trade Center disaster, this model was ultimately not submitted. It has been kept safe since 2001 and is now offered for sale through Hollywood Heroes.
